Bathroom Remodel Considerations

Thinking about a Bathroom Remodel?

Basement BathroomOne of the most common home renovations is a bathroom remodel. From swapping out an old, worn-out vanity to a complete gut of everything in the room, bath remodels come in all shapes and sizes.

If you’ve considered updating your bathroom, you’ve probably been inspired by common themes such as classic mustard-yellow tile, an unsightly, abused fiberglass shower or tub, or linoleum flooring that appears to predate the Great Depression. These are all understandable reasons to consider an overhaul of one of the most-used spaces in your home. You might also be considering resale value, issues such as leaks, mold, faulty fixtures, space or mobility limitations, and more.

Modern tile showers are systems composed of layers of water-resistant material, sealant, mortar, and a variety of tile, from manufactured to natural stone, porcelain, ceramic, and even solid-surface products like Corian. The number of options is staggering and can easily become overwhelming. Tile showers are a significant home investment, with strong returns in aesthetic appeal and, potentially, resale value. Of course, as one part of a bathroom gets up to date and others fall behind, we might as well put some tile on the floor, too! Fortunately, floors are typically easier to prepare for and tile than showers.

When updating your bathroom, don’t forget options that can elevate your experience, such as heated towel bars, in-floor heating, built-in shower shelves, and a custom glass door (no more shower curtains).

Lastly, a bathroom remodel is a major project that requires coordination of carpenters, plumbers, electricians, and possibly other trades, too, so choosing a capable General Contractor is important not only for the sake of the project but for your sanity as well!
